~~The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay will meet at Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater, Florida on Sunday May 21, 2017 for a presentation by Bob Bryan on “Digital Cameras for Genealogy”. A social with refreshments and library access begins at 1:30 PM, and the featured program starts at 2:00 PM.
The digital camera is one of the most versatile and important tools for the modern genealogist, and digital imaging has revolutionized many aspects of genealogy.  This lecture will discuss the important features and capabilities of digital cameras, and demonstrate how to make the best use of a digital camera in your genealogical research.
Bob Bryan is a fifth generation Floridian who has been a resident of Pinellas County since 1965. He is retired from the Raytheon Corporation after a 37-year career as an electronic design engineer. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama and attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bob became “hooked” on genealogy in the early nineties when a cousin presented him with a family history showing his ancestors back to the 1700s.  He has spent many hours "digging up his roots" since then, and he now has over 35,000 persons in a computer database of his and his wife's ancestors and kin. Since joining The Pinellas Genealogy Society in 1994, he has served on many committees and has been moderator of the “Computers in Genealogy” group. He is a past-president of the Pinellas Genealogical Society, and is currently its Director of Education where he schedules and coordinates over 150 classes and educational events during the year, teaching many of them himself, and he makes presentations to community groups and other genealogy societies. We are pleased to have Bob back once again, and we look forward to his talk about “Digital Cameras for Genealogy”
The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay’s library and research resources are available to all meeting attendees and can be loaned out to members.  Anyone interested in learning how to do Jewish genealogical research is invited to participate.  Beginners as well as experienced researchers are welcome. The meeting is open to the public and is free of charge.
The pre-program social with refreshments and library access begins at 1:30 PM, and the featured program starts at 2:00 PM.  For information about the organization or directions to the meeting, call Bruce Hadburg at 727-796-7981.
