Preschool
The Center serves families with children ages 2 through 5. Through active, hands-on learning experiences — art, music, exercise, children's literature, cooking, computers, math, science, holiday celebrations and more — children have fun while exploring the world and people around them. The Center's early childhood teachers are educated in the developmental stages of children ages 2 to 5 years, and all the Center's professionals are screened and approved by the Florida Department of Children's Services.
Camp Or Hashemesh
Camp Or Hashemesh is an 8-week summer experience offered in two, four-week sessions for children aged 2 to 14 years old. Programs are age appropriate, helping campers develop socialization skills in an atmosphere where Jewish culture can be experienced through music, crafts, nature, drama, dance, and a weekly Shabbat program. The continued involvement with the Summer Schlichim Program, which brings young counselors from Israel to participate in the camp, is a favorite among campers.
Seniors programs
The Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center features specialized programs that serve adults who are looking for socialization and interaction, with activities to celebrate Jewish heritage through recreational, cultural, educational, spiritual and physical health programs. The goal is to enable senior adults who live at home to participate in the highest quality programs and services to enrich their lives, while providing peace of mind and respite for caregivers. The Center offers a variety of educational and social classes, land and water exercise programs, workshops, lectures, day trips and a Senior Kosher Lunch program Monday to Friday with nutritious meals.
Adult Summer Institute (ASI)
The Golda Meir Kent/ Kent Jewish Center and the Pinellas County Jewish Day School have combined forces to create an innovative and creative summer learning experience for adults. Both campuses offer five weeks of programming. Each course provides a taste of a particular learning experience. Different course topics include textile art, home decorating, athletics, career advising, Jewish education, as well as afternoon trips.
Jewish experience and cultural events
The Center provides opportunities to study, experience tradition, and find spiritual sustenance within Judaism and to explore the Jewish identity. These programs include the Tampa Bay Jewish Film Festival, in collaboration with the Tampa JCC; a Jewish Book Club in cooperation with Barnes & Noble; scholars who explore the roots of Judaism and Hebrew; and the Joys of Jewish Learning Series featuring community rabbis. The Center also provides holiday celebrations to educate and bring the community together, such as a Passover Seder, Succot dinner and an intergenerational Chanukah program. Sports and fitness The Harry and Julia Schwartz Life Extension Center (LEC) is a comprehensive physical fitness facility. The mission of the LEC is to enable each person to attain maximum fitness. Members are evaluated by certified trainers and then can be placed on a program designed specifically for their needs and capabilities. The trainers use land and water programs to help develop and maintain a healthier lifestyle for members. Members of all ages work out together in a friendly, healthy atmosphere.
TBAY Youth Swim Program
Tampa Bay Community Aquatics ("TBAY") is a year-round, USA Swimming sanctioned organization that offers aquatic instruction and training. The program is under the direction of long-time Pinellas County veteran coach Rich Rogers. Rogers has developed and worked with a wide variety of athletes ranging from the novice to Olympic Trials finalists. The program offers private lessons, group lessons, exposure to competitive swim team, novice swim team, and national caliber training environment.
