Proclamation

 

JEWISH CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY APPRECIATION WEEK

 

WHEREAS, through its dedication, the Jewish community has provided leadership and  substantial financial contributions to the economic,  cultural, educational, political, legal and medical life in Pinellas County for  over 134 years; and WHEREAS, the Jewish community has documented these contributions in a  unique and highly acclaimed book, “Histories of the Jewish People of Pinellas County, Florida 1883-2005; and WHEREAS, the members of the Jewish community, bringing increasing  honor to their heritage and the county, have graced the community with their philanthropy and in their leadership of philanthropic organizations; and WHEREAS, the county’s Jewish community has spent countless hours  gathering and preserving their historical documents and have now been donated to  be safely stored in the archives of Pinellas County’s Heritage Village to enable future citizens and scholars a source in developing other faith-based archives and histories. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners that the week of October 14 - 20, 2007 be recognized as JEWISH CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY APPRECIATION WEEK and do hereby call upon all citizens to join together in honoring the proud history of the Jewish Community of Pinellas County and their vast contributions to our society.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have set our hands and caused the seal of  Pinellas County, Florida to be affixed this 16th day of October, 2007.
