The annual Lion of Judah Luncheon, hosted by Debbie Sembler, continues to fuel the flame of the Women's Philanthropy Annual Campaign. Thirty-six women joined featured speaker, Carole Solomon, UJC National Chair/Chairman of the Board of Governors, in keeping the Promise. Together, the women raised over $35,000 in a three-year commitment to bring home the last of the Falas Mura and provide for the basic needs of the elderly and at risk youth of the Former Soviet Union. Pinellas is proud to have two new Lions for the 2006 Campaign, Judy Cohen and an anonymous donor. Margot Benstock, Southeast LOJE Leadership Institute Chair, co-chaired the LOJE Leadership Institute in Ft. Lauderdale. Five chairs and professionals walked away with a better understanding of the Lion of Judah Endowment program through interactive group work, case studies and best practices. Mindy Solomon, Women's Philanthropy President and co-chair of LOJE, Margot Benstock and Fran Lasky attended the Reach for the Ruby Event in Palm Beach. Each participant commented on the accomplishments of the women from all over the country who were willing to reach beyond what even they believed was possible in their life times. Fran Lasky and Betty Weintraub, Co-Chairs, residents and active Jewish Federation Lions in both Cleveland OH and Pinellas County hosted a Spring Lion of Judah Appreciation Luncheon and art tour of one of the largest privately held art collections at the corporate offices of Raymond James. Young Leadership shared their heartwarming experiences of the TelAvivOne Mission, just one of the many ways the Lions continue to invest in the future leaders of Pinellas County. Jan Traub, the National Lion of Judah Conference Chair, is thrilled to have the opportunity to encourage and inspire the women of Pinellas County to join with her on Capitol Hill to promote our domestic and overseas agendas. There are currently 49 women who proudly wear the Lion of Judah pin in Pinellas County.
