All grant requests must meet the mission of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties, FL which is: To raise and appropriate funds to rescue the imperiled, to care for the vulnerable, to strengthen Jewish life in Pinellas & PascoCounties, FL, in Israel & throughout the world. Florida Holocaust Museum to celebrate 20 year anniversary

The Florida Holocaust Museum is pleased to present our annual benefit, To Life:  Celebrating 20 Years on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 6:30pm. Program highlights will feature the 2012 Loebenberg Humanitarian Award,* presented and accepted by Professor Elie Weisel.  Weisel is a Holocaust Survivor, the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States Congressional Gold Medal and the 1986 Nobel Laureate Prize for Peace. Proceeds from To Life: Celebrating 20 Years, will benefit education, exhibitions and public programming at the Florida Holocaust Museum.   Click here for more information.

Jewish Holiday Calendar.

Jewish holidays actually occur on the same day every year: the same day on the Jewish calendar! The Jewish calendar has a different number of days than the calendar we use because the Jewish calendar is tied to the moon's cycles instead of the sun's. The Jewish calendar loses about 11 days relative to the solar calendar every year, but makes up for it by adding a month every two or three years. As a result, the holidays don't always fall on the same day. See the dates for the Jewish holidays from 2011 until 2014 by clicking here

PJ Library highlighted in NY Times: Aiming to Spread Judaism One Book at a Time

In 2004, Harold Grinspoon, a local real estate mogul, heard a story on National Public Radio about the Imagination Library, founded by the singer Dolly Parton to give free books to children in her native rural Tennessee (and which now gives books around the country, in Canada and in England). Mr. Grinspoon, who has long given millions of dollars to Jewish summer camps and to schools and synagogues here in western Massachusetts, had an idea: do what Dolly does, with a Jewish twist.
